The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Drosa district of the municipality of Osternienburger Land. The girl was bitten multiple times by a dog and suffered fatal injuries. An emergency doctor could not save her, according to police.
The animal is a dog from the child’s family environment. Police have launched an investigation. The public prosecutor’s office is also investigating.
After the tragedy, emergency chaplains cared for the mother, and a crisis intervention team supported the police officers. The dog was taken to an animal shelter.
