The Kyiv city administration is sticking to July 15 as the introduction date for the new bus fare of 30 hryvnias. The transport authority denied rumors of a postponement, UNIAN reports.

The Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) transport authority has rejected speculation about a postponement of the planned fare increase to 30 hryvnias. A spokesperson told UNIAN that no official decision has been made to change the July 15 date, and preparations are ongoing.

The draft tariff regulation is currently going through the legally required approval procedures, particularly within the city’s economic department. The transport authority itself continues to work with the July 15 date. Media reports about a delay stem from a misunderstanding, the authority said.

The new single ticket for buses, the metro, and trams will cost 30 hryvnias. Transport analyst Oleksandr Hretschko from the organization “Passengers of Kyiv” had previously criticized that Kyiv would thus have one of the most expensive monthly ticket fares in Europe. The director of the city transport authority, Serhij Pidhajnyj, acknowledged that the price of 30 hryvnias is not fully cost-covering but is close to an economically justified level.
