Sträter first made his cancer diagnosis public in April and canceled several performances. Now, in a conversation with Felix Lobrecht, he explained that he had undergone chemotherapy over the past six months and had been very lucky – ‘because of great doctors.’ He is on the road to recovery and has never felt better.
Sträter also addressed his noticeable weight loss, which, however, has nothing to do with his cancer. The reason was an additionally diagnosed diabetes condition. Since he gave up sugar, he has ‘lost a disproportionate amount of weight.’ The weight loss is not a sign of frailty: ‘Associating this thinness with “he’s terminally ill now” is wrong,’ Sträter said.
Through the dietary change, his diabetes has improved.
