The bombs struck the city center on the morning of August 4, damaging the residential building as well as other residential and non-residential structures. Rescue workers are on site and searching the rubble for more victims, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Oblast Military Administration.
The number of injured rose throughout the day: initially four wounded were reported, later authorities revised the figure to nine, then 21, before confirming 22. Authorities are still verifying the exact number of casualties and the extent of the damage.
Filashkin called the attack “another deliberate strike against civilians.” He urged residents of the region to move to safety: “Staying in the region is dangerous. We are helping with transportation, accommodation, and all necessary support.”
Russia has repeatedly attacked Kramatorsk with missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs throughout its war of aggression, even though the city is a key administrative and logistical hub for Ukraine in the Donetsk region.
