The European Union imposed fresh sanctions on Russia on Friday, August 7, in response to the latest massive air strikes on Ukraine, as reported by 24tv.

The European Union (EU) imposed new sanctions on Russia on Friday, August 7. The measures target five individuals linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex, as announced by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

Kallas said every new attack on Ukraine is another reason for Europe to increase pressure on Russia. The Russian army is bogged down on the battlefield, which is why Moscow continues to intensify its terror campaign against civilians. The EU will maintain pressure until Russia ends its war.

The sanctions are part of a series of measures the EU regularly imposes on Russia. Just on July 23, the EU adopted its 21st sanctions package. Earlier, on July 17, the EU Council had imposed sanctions in response to attacks on Kyiv in early July. Britain and the United States have also recently imposed new sanctions on Russia. The new EU sanctions are valid for two years.
