On Ukraine's Youth Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the government to prioritize youth policy, saying the new Cabinet must give young people concrete reasons to stay and build their futures in the country.

Zelensky spoke after a meeting with participants of the Ukrainian youth forum “Youth in Action.” The newly formed government is currently working on the Cabinet’s action program, he said. It is not just about what the state can provide, but about much more: giving people reasons to live in Ukraine, to plan their lives and those of their families, and to trust that the state is there for them.

The president stressed that security remains central as the country approaches its fifth year of war. However, civilian life must not be treated as secondary. Concrete state efforts are needed to support all normal forms of social life. Citizens should have as fulfilling a living environment as possible in Ukraine.

The remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing Russian attacks that are prompting many young Ukrainians to leave the country or postpone starting families. Authorities warn that a shrinking young population could hamper long-term reconstruction.
