Russian jet-powered drones have for the first time penetrated deep into western Ukraine, flying over Vinnytsia, Ternopil and Rivne and heading towards Volyn.

On Tuesday evening, Russian combat drones reached western Ukraine for the first time. They flew over the Vinnytsia, Ternopil and Rivne oblasts and headed towards Volyn. Sirens wailed in many central and eastern regions, and around 7 p.m. the all-clear was given in the western areas.

Until now, the range of such combat drones was up to 500 kilometers, which is why they mainly attacked frontline and border regions. Now they reached targets at this depth for the first time. The British newspaper The Telegraph reported that Russia could be using the new models “Geran-4” and “Geran-5” specifically to break through Ukrainian air defenses with higher speed and survivability.

In addition, according to The Telegraph, Russia has built 59 new launch rails for long-range drones at ten sites along the border with Ukraine and Belarus. In Kyiv, air raid alerts were triggered nine times that day. Drones were also active over the east, north and south of Ukraine, especially the city of Brovary east of Kyiv came under fire – there, among other things, a distribution center of the EVA retail chain was hit.
