The pass costs €10 or €14, runs until summer 2027 and is sold online only. What is in it and what to do before the holidays start on 2 November.

If you have children aged 6 to 17 in Munich, there is one small chore to do before the autumn holidays: set up an online account. The Münchner Ferienpass for 2026/27 is now sold digitally only, and the old sales points no longer hand out paper passes. Bavaria’s autumn break runs from Monday 2 to Friday 6 November.

The pass costs €14 for children aged 6 to 14 and €10 for teenagers aged 15 to 17. It is valid from the autumn holidays until the end of the 2027 summer holidays, and according to the city portal muenchen.de it has been on sale since 5 October. It includes discounts and vouchers for events, five free entries to the city’s indoor pools and one free entry to Hellabrunn Zoo. The Mooskurier Hallbergmoos adds that it also gives free entry to outdoor pools during the Whitsun and summer holidays.

How to get one

The city has moved sales onto a single online platform. You create an account at muenchen.de/ferienpass, buy the pass and save it to your phone’s wallet. A child without a smartphone can show a printout instead. Questions go to the Ferienpass hotline on 089 233-733822.

Low-income families still get the pass free of charge. They pick up a voucher code at the usual distribution points and redeem it online. If you receive Bürgergeld or similar benefits, ask there which proof is needed; the city’s announcement gives no details.

Is it worth it, and what comes next?

That depends on your plans. If you intend to go swimming and visit Hellabrunn once, the pass should pay for itself quickly, but compare the single ticket prices yourself before buying, since the city does not list them. It also helps that many museums are free for children and young people anyway. Some holiday events need advance registration; the programme is at ferien-familien.muenchen.de.

Our assessment: the real hurdle is the technology rather than the price. Bottlenecks on the platform just before the holidays cannot be ruled out after a switch like this, so set up the account now rather than on the last weekend. The Familienpass follows suit and goes digital on 1 January 2027, with details promised for mid-November.

If you plan the holiday week without the pass: Hellabrunn has been on winter hours since 25 October, open daily from 9am to 5pm, and Legoland Deutschland in Günzburg stays open until 8 November.
