The AfD in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has announced a return police in its draft program for the upcoming elections in September. This initiative aims to combat illegal migration and smuggling crime. The lead candidate, Leif-Erik Holm, emphasizes that the party is ready for a “blue turnaround” in state politics.
Holm stated, “We must ensure the safety of our citizens and curb illegal migration.” The proposed return police evokes associations with the American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), known for its tough stance on illegal immigration.
The AfD criticizes the current state government under Manuela Schwesig (SPD), claiming it is working to replace the German-dominated society with a multicultural one. This phrasing echoes the conspiracy theory of the “Great Replacement,” which is propagated by the New Right.
Additionally, the AfD plans a “stop on admissions as a last resort” and its own deportation detention facility. The “remigration” of Syrians from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is also to be prepared. Asylum seekers will only receive in-kind benefits and be housed in large accommodations.
