The AI company Anthropic, known as the developer of the AI model Claude, has introduced a new index to assess the impact of AI on the labor market. The index is called 'observed exposure'. It is designed to show which occupations are already most threatened by automation, according to Anthropic.

The study finds that programmers have the highest exposure value at 74.5%. This value indicates the share of working time and professional tasks that can already be performed or significantly accelerated with the help of AI. The study shows that AI's greatest impact currently falls not on manual trades but on office jobs in information processing, analytics, and computer work.

However, mass unemployment due to AI is not yet a reality. Recently, Anthropic presented a comprehensive program to prepare for possible consequences of AI development on the labor market. The company outlines three scenarios: one with 5% unemployment, one with 10%, and one with so-called 'unprecedented unemployment' of 25%.

In the worst case, 'unprecedented unemployment' of over 25%, Anthropic considers 'income replacement' necessary for a large part of the working population: new tax sources and new ways of broad distribution.
