Berlin CDU faction has traveled to the Palatinate for a closed-door retreat to discuss several key issues. The focus is on tenant protection, safety in public transport, and a ban on street prostitution. The retreat takes place 100 days before the state parliament election, the faction announced.
At the meeting in the Hunsrück region, more than 30 motions on areas such as housing, transport, security, education, and the economy will be discussed. CDU faction leader Dirk Stettner announced that cleanliness in Berlin and new housing construction would also be addressed.
Participants include not only the faction’s members of parliament but also CDU senators and several federal lawmakers. On Saturday, a meeting with the new CDU minister-president of Rhineland-Palatinate, Gordon Schnieder, is scheduled.
The accompanying program includes a wreath-laying at the grave of former Chancellor Helmut Kohl in Speyer and a visit to Hambach Castle, considered the cradle of the German democracy movement.
