The DAX is trading at 24,960 points on Thursday morning, virtually unchanged from the previous day. Germany’s leading index has been hovering just below 25,000 points since Tuesday, briefly reaching 25,067 points shortly after the market opened before falling back below that level.

The Federal Reserve (Fed) left its key interest rate unchanged under new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. The rate remains in the range of 3.50 to 3.75 percent, as the Fed announced on Wednesday. Inflation in the US has risen sharply due to the Iran war, making rate cuts unlikely for the time being.

The signing of a framework agreement between the US and Iran to end the fighting is providing relief in the markets. The agreement extends a ceasefire announced in April by another 60 days and could dampen energy prices.
