The US military confirmed the death of a third soldier following an Iranian attack on a base in Jordan. The three soldiers were stationed in the region to support the mission against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization. They died on Friday in Iranian attacks on the base in Jordan, according to Centcom, the US military command responsible for the Middle East. These are the first deaths of US troops from direct Iranian attacks since the war began.
Alongside the military tensions, a diplomatic development is emerging: the US and Saudi Arabia appear to be on the verge of a nuclear agreement. Additional ships have changed course due to Houthi threats. Pakistan is threatening a military intervention in the Houthi conflict. Jordan intercepted rockets over the city of Aqaba, according to military reports.
