As reported by Deutschlandfunk, the Monopolies Commission has presented a first assessment of the fuel discount. The independent advisory body to the German government concludes that the tax relief of 16.7 cents per liter was not fully passed on to consumers. Instead, between 15 and 16 cents were passed on.
The fuel discount expires in two weeks. The Monopolies Commission is a panel that advises the federal government on competition issues. The incomplete pass-through means that the oil companies kept part of the relief for themselves.
