The Bundestag has passed a law to provide financial relief to Germany's states and municipalities, allocating one billion euros annually from 2026 to 2029.

The funds are to be used, among other things, for operating swimming pools and daycare centers. The law is part of the federal government’s efforts to stabilize the financial situation of public budgets.

The exact distribution of the money among the individual states and municipalities will be regulated in the coming months. The opposition criticized the amount of aid as insufficient.
