In a recent interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Jordan Bardella, the Chairman of the Rassemblement National, made it clear that he distances himself from the Alternative for Germany (AfD). Bardella stated that many positions of the AfD are incompatible with the principles of his party.
"The AfD has a strong anti-European wing that demands an exit from the EU," Bardella said. This stance contradicts the principles of the Rassemblement National, which advocates for a reform of the European Union (EU) rather than calling for an exit.
Furthermore, Bardella praised the migration policy of Friedrich Merz (CDU). He described it as positive and emphasized the need for effective migration management in Europe.
Bardella's clear distinction from the AfD shows that he and the Rassemblement National are trying to position themselves as a responsible political force that distances itself from extreme positions.
In a political climate marked by increasing tensions between various parties, Bardella's stance could be significant both within France and at the European level.
