Loomer, a prominent MAGA figure, said the systems would protect civilians and serve American security interests. She wrote on X that after several nights under air raid alerts and sheltering from Russian ballistic missile attacks, she had changed her view on the urgency of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
Loomer described Patriot systems as purely defensive weapons designed to intercept Russian missiles targeting Ukrainian cities, civilian infrastructure, and energy facilities. She argued that delivering Patriots would save lives, protect critical infrastructure, and force Russia to expend expensive missiles without requiring Ukrainian strikes inside Russia or the deployment of US troops.
Loomer also argued that strengthening Ukraine’s air defense would serve US national security interests by weakening Russia’s military partnership with Iran. She cited US officials and Ukrainian intelligence, saying Moscow had shared targeting information and satellite imagery with Tehran to support attacks against US forces in the Middle East.
