In the night of June 15, flashes of Ukrainian air defense lit up the sky over Kyiv as the city endured a new wave of Russian attacks. Explosions echoed through the capital, and many civilians sought refuge in underground shelters until the danger passed.

The attack triggered hours-long air raid alerts, sending thousands of people fleeing to subway stations and designated shelters. Families huddled on sleeping mats, while some set up makeshift tents, preparing for a longer stay. Witnesses reported a tense atmosphere and heard the dull thuds of air defense interceptions.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the city’s military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that both direct hits and debris from intercepted missiles caused damage in several districts. Emergency services were deployed across the city to assess damage and assist residents. At least six people were injured, according to preliminary reports, with authorities warning the number could rise.

The Ukrainian Air Force said its systems were continuously engaged in intercepting incoming projectiles, underscoring the intensity of Russia’s aerial attacks on the capital and other major cities.
