The rapper 18 Karat loses his European freedom of movement rights and can be deported to Portugal. The Higher Administrative Court of North Rhine-Westphalia dismissed his appeal.

The rapper 18 Karat, whose real name is Ivo Vieira Silva, is currently serving a prison sentence for multiple drug offenses. The Dortmund Regional Court had sentenced him to a total of six years and three months in prison. The city of Dortmund subsequently determined the loss of his EU freedom of movement rights and threatened deportation to Portugal.

Against the interim order of the Gelsenkirchen Administrative Court of July 3, the rapper filed an appeal. The Higher Administrative Court (OVG) of North Rhine-Westphalia dismissed it on Tuesday. This makes the immediately enforceable loss of freedom of movement rights final, and deportation to Portugal is imminent.
