The artillery strike occurred around 11:45 AM local time, hitting the central residential and commercial district of Kherson. Russian forces fired from the occupied eastern bank of the Dnipro River at civilians who were unprotected on the street. A man was killed instantly by shrapnel, while another man and a woman sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The Kherson Regional Procuracy confirmed the incident and initiated a formal criminal investigation. This is being conducted under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which documents war crimes and intentional murder. The attack is part of a wave of bombardments that took place over the weekend, posing significant challenges to Ukrainian air defense forces.

In addition to this incident, a Russian FPV drone strike on a minibus in central Kherson was reported on the same morning, severely injuring the 60-year-old driver. Ukrainian authorities have condemned the attacks as targeted assaults on civilians.

The investigations by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police aim to hold those responsible for these attacks accountable. The ongoing assaults on civilians in Kherson highlight the persistent threat posed by Russian forces in the region.
