RWE has reached an agreement with the shareholders of M31 Beteiligungsgesellschaft to acquire their indirect stakes in Amprion. This will raise the Essen-based group’s indirect holding to 55 percent. The purchase price for the stake increase is around €3.6 billion, RWE announced on Monday after the stock market closed.

To finance the deal, RWE plans a capital increase: up to nearly 74.4 million new shares will be placed with institutional investors, corresponding to a stake of up to 4.9 percent of the share capital. The group also intends to sell its own shares worth up to 5.1 percent of the share capital. Shareholders’ subscription rights will be excluded.

RWE’s shares on Tradegate fell almost three percent compared to the Xetra closing price.
