Klüssendorf expressed caution about whether all social insurance systems and state sectors could be fundamentally overhauled by the summer. He is wary of the notion that solutions in all areas could be found by then, the SPD General Secretary said.

The statement comes against the backdrop of ongoing coalition negotiations between the CDU/CSU and SPD. The new federal government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) had announced comprehensive reforms, including in pensions and social security contributions.

EuroPulse reported on June 12, 2026, on the federal government’s draft bill for the EU AI Regulation, which is also considered part of the reform agenda: Federal Government Presents Draft Bill for EU AI Regulation.
