On July 6, Ukrainian forces attacked the Omsk Oil Refinery in Russia, located about 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The strike is part of a systematic strategy against Russian oil infrastructure, according to military analyst Oleksandr Musiyenko.

Ukrainian military analyst Oleksandr Musiyenko told 24tv that the attacks on Russian oil refineries are part of a systematic strategy. The Defense Forces have already struck multiple refineries, including the one in Omsk. Repeated strikes make it harder for the enemy to repair and maintain fuel supplies for its own needs and for export.

Musiyenko emphasized that the Ukrainian drones reached their target undamaged because Russian air defense only protects objects selectively. The Russians did not expect an attack on the Siberian refinery and therefore did not reinforce its protection. The attack also refutes Russian propaganda claiming that Moscow systematically hits Ukrainian defense plants – in reality, Ukrainian manufacturers are increasing the range and effectiveness of their drones.

The attack used a modernized Ukrainian drone of the FP-1 type, which has a range of up to 3,400 kilometers. According to Musiyenko, this may not be the last such strike. It forces the occupiers to further redistribute their air defense – protecting all facilities is impossible.
