The Ukrainian government is working on a reform of the military contract system that will apply to both new recruits and existing soldiers. According to UNIAN, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the President's Office have agreed on a new approach to demobilization. The reform outlines three types of contracts that establish clear service periods.

Soldiers who sign a contract will receive guaranteed demobilization timelines and the option to extend their contracts. The service periods are set at 10 months for active soldiers in combat positions, 14 months for new recruits in combat roles, and two years for other positions, such as drone pilots or media representatives.

Additionally, the Ukrainian news agency Ukrainska Pravda reports that the base salary for soldiers in the rear will increase from 20,000 to 30,000 Hryvnias. Commanders of various ranks are expected to receive a doubling of their salaries. Soldiers who sign "combat contracts" may also receive risk payments of up to 40,000 Hryvnias per day, depending on the nature of their missions.
