Olena and her family lost their home in Huliaipole when Russian troops destroyed the city. They then bought an old house, which they are now extensively renovating. As the Ukrainian woman reported on social media, the roof cost 414,266 hryvnias, and the extension came to 336,100 hryvnias.

For the roof alone, which covers 156 square meters, the owners spent 132,800 hryvnias on wood, 155,400 hryvnias on workers, and 117,000 hryvnias on metal tiles, snow guards, and screws. The remaining costs went to membranes and fastening materials. For the extension, the most expensive items were the aerated concrete block masonry (82,000 hryvnias), the blocks themselves (80,700 hryvnias), and the foundation and formwork (69,200 hryvnias). Concrete with delivery cost 65,600 hryvnias, and reinforcing steel cost 20,000 hryvnias.

After this work, the family’s budget is almost exhausted, even though interior finishing remains. The family wants to move in by autumn and plans to do some of the remaining work themselves. An additional hurdle: when installing the windows, they discovered that the walls in the extension are uneven — a solution has not yet been found.

The old country house, previously overgrown and abandoned, has been transformed step by step over three years into a modern home. They have renewed the grounds, replaced utility lines, and designed parts of the interior. Inside, some partition walls were removed to change the floor plan and strengthen the structure. Renovation in some rooms is still ongoing, but the rooms are gradually being furnished in light white-and-green tones.
