The new sanctions were introduced by the US Department of the Treasury and target actors assisting Iran in delivering oil to China. These measures are intended to deny the Iranian regime access to international financial networks.

The US Treasury emphasized that the sanctions aim to significantly restrict the financial capabilities of the Iranian regime. The affected companies and individuals are based in Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.

Additionally, the Ukrainian news agency Ukrainska Pravda reported that these sanctions are part of a broader US strategy to reduce Iran's influence in the region and secure global oil supply chains.
