Lewis Hamilton has won the Catalan Grand Prix. According to the FAZ, it is the seven-time world champion’s first victory in nearly two years and also his first success with Ferrari. The 41-year-old beat George Russell in the Mercedes and Lando Norris in the McLaren in Barcelona – an all-British podium.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who was running second, retired just before the end of the race. Hamilton moves up to second in the drivers’ standings with his third consecutive podium finish, 41 points behind the Italian. “Grazie tutti, ragazzi! I love you all. This race reminds me who I am,” Hamilton said in the official winner’s interview, conducted by his former rival Nico Rosberg.

Ferrari thus snatched victory from perennial winner Mercedes for the first time this season. Hamilton, who made the switch to Ferrari after a difficult 2024 season, was emotional: “I’ve been chasing a dream over the past year, and it looked like an impossible journey. But I never gave up hope.” The Catalan Grand Prix was Formula 1’s last appearance in Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
