France started the 2026 World Cup with a 3-2 victory over Senegal. Kylian Mbappé scored in the 66th and 90th+6 minutes, while Bradley Barcola made it 2-0 in the 82nd minute. Senegal’s Mbaye pulled one back in the 90th+5 minute.
The first half was disappointing for France, who managed only one shot and none on target. Senegal had the better chances: Nicolas Jackson hit the post, and Ismaïla Sarr missed a free header in stoppage time. After the break, France improved, with Michael Olise being denied by goalkeeper Édouard Mendy. In the end, individual quality proved decisive.
