The union ver.di expressed disappointment after the failed talks, saying employers had worsened their offer. Currently, the central landfill in Rosenow is operating only in emergency mode. Household waste is still being accepted but not fully processed – the trash is being temporarily stored.
At the heart of the conflict are wage demands. Ver.di is demanding a table-effective increase of 400 euros per month. Employers most recently offered two wage increases of 120 euros each per month plus one-off payments. Managing director Eiko Potreck called the demands disproportionate and pointed to existing contracts with the districts until the end of 2027, which prevent higher fees.
Management dismissed speculation about a possible halt to waste collection. Waste will continue to be collected, Potreck told NDR. The current state can be maintained for a longer period. When the labor dispute will end remains open.
