The exhibition brings together works by artists Eva Zucker from Waren and Katja Lohmeyer. The two have been friends for years but met in person for the first time in front of the museum. Museum director Marén Kude said the encounter was emotional: “I still get goosebumps.”
Eva Zucker processes her experiences with alcohol addiction in her paintings. She is sober, the artist said, and painting has helped her: “You can let everything out without having to use words.” Katja Lohmeyer works with resin, acrylic, velvet, and wood, and likes to use opulent old frames that she does not restore because they “already have so much history.”
The works of the two artists hang alongside the permanent exhibition featuring paintings by Rudolf Gahlbeck, Sieghard Dittner, Friedrich-Franz Pingel, and Peter Hesse. Museum director Kude wants to make the art museum a place where artists enjoy exhibiting again. Readings, concerts, and further special exhibitions are planned.
