In the ZDF summer interview, AfD leader Alice Weidel expressed confidence about the upcoming elections and sharply criticized the CDU.

In the ZDF summer interview, AfD leader Alice Weidel expressed confidence about the upcoming state elections and the federal level. She stated that the AfD would govern in individual states and at the federal level. Weidel declared that the CDU would never win another federal election and criticized government politicians as ‘flatheads’.

Weidel reiterated her party’s demands for stricter migration policies and an end to the ban on combustion engines. She emphasized that the AfD would ‘enforce law and order’ and that she was ready to work with anyone as long as they were capable. At the same time, she expressed concerns about internal security due to migration and called for closing the borders.

The AfD leader also criticized the naturalization of people from Syria and defended her party’s position on leaving the euro. Weidel sees the euro as an unstable currency that entails losses of assets for the ‘ordinary population’. She believes that Germany was significantly better off before the introduction of the euro.
