During a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service, Andriy Danyk, Støre learned about the work of rescue workers in the war. Danyk explained to the Norwegian delegation how emergency operations proceed under wartime conditions and what challenges the responders face daily.

The specialists worked under difficult conditions and often under constant threat of renewed shelling, Danyk said. He stressed that the main task remains saving lives, helping victims, and quickly eliminating the consequences of the attacks. He also thanked the Norwegian government and people for their support and assistance to the State Emergency Service units.

Earlier, Støre was received at Kyiv’s main railway station by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, along with other European heads of state and government who had arrived ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The Norwegian prime minister condemned the recent Russian attacks: Russia does not distinguish between civilian and military targets, striking civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, schools, and hospitals—a systematic violation of international law.
