Actor Tom Holland (30) came home and asked Zendaya (29) to read the script again — this time with special attention to the character of Athena. As Holland told ‘Access Hollywood’ in an interview, Zendaya immediately understood what was going on and started grinning. ‘It was incredible,’ Holland said.
Earlier, director Christopher Nolan had met Holland in his office and asked if he would mind if Zendaya also got a role. Holland replied: ‘That’s great. I’m sure she’d love to do it.’ Nolan asked him to deliver the news himself. ‘The drive home was so exciting for me,’ Holland said.
In ‘The Odyssey,’ Zendaya plays the goddess Athena, Holland her son Telemachus. The couple met on the set of the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise, whose fourth part hits theaters at the end of July. The film opens in German cinemas on July 16.
