Six people were killed and four injured in Ukrainian missile attacks on Russia's Belgorod region overnight, the region's acting governor said on Monday.

Acting Belgorod Governor Alexander Schuwajew reported on Telegram that the attacks early Monday killed six people and injured four others. Among the wounded was a 14-year-old child who was taken to hospital, while two other people received medical assistance.

In the village of Koloskowo in the Valuisky district, near the border with Ukraine, a building caught fire and a car was damaged. In addition, according to the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babuschkin, a woman was killed in a drone attack on a residential building. The attack was aimed at an industrial facility, which was not damaged.

The Ukrainian strikes followed a night in which Russia said it had repelled the “largest” Ukrainian attack of the year, killing at least seven people. In Ukraine, there were also new casualties: two people died in Russian drone attacks on the Sumy region, according to Ukrainian authorities.
