The Airbeat One Dance Festival in Neustadt-Glewe, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, opens its gates today. For five days, the grounds at the airfield will transform into a Dutch setting with canal houses and a mysterious main stage that will only be revealed on Thursday. Organizers call the Netherlands ‘the absolute festival country of Europe’ – no other country has shaped the electronic music scene so sustainably.
The lineup of around 350 acts includes well-known names such as Boris Brejcha, Charlotte de Witte, Timmy Trumpet, Scooter, and many more. Police have increased their presence around the site, are checking for drugs while driving, and have set up a mobile station. Free shuttle buses from Neustadt-Glewe train station, as well as paid buses from Ludwigslust and organized tours from several German and European cities, are available for travel.
The festival grounds have been open for campers since Tuesday, and campsites remain accessible until Sunday at 6 p.m. Residents aged 16 and older with a primary residence in Neustadt-Glewe can party for free from Thursday evening to Friday morning. A glass ban applies throughout the area, open fires are not allowed, but grilling on the campsites is generally permitted.
