FC Energie Cottbus has filled its goalkeeping position for the upcoming season. Marcel Lotka, most recently under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf, has joined the third-division club. No transfer fee was paid, the club announced.

Lotka brings experience from all three professional leagues: ten appearances in the Bundesliga, two in the 2. Bundesliga, and 84 matches in the 3. Liga. The 1.91-meter tall goalkeeper came through the youth systems of Schalke 04, Rot-Weiss Essen, and Bayer Leverkusen before playing senior football for Hertha BSC, Borussia Dortmund II, and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz expressed his satisfaction: “We are pleased that we were able to convince Marcel Lotka, an established goalkeeper, of the prospects here at our club.” Goalkeeping coach Alex Sebald added: “The talks with Marcel were very open, the chemistry is right. The overall package, both personally and athletically, fits.”

EuroPulse reported on June 11, 2026, about Leonardo Bittencourt’s return to Energie Cottbus (Transfer coup: Energie Cottbus brings Bittencourt back).
