Germany’s economic weakness is increasingly affecting the labor market. The Federal Employment Agency (BA) expects a deficit in the billions for the current year, as Tagesspiegel reports.

Budget politicians in the Bundestag are to be informed about the exact size of the deficit next week. The BA finances itself mainly through contributions to unemployment insurance; rising spending on short-time work benefits and unemployment benefit I are straining the coffers.
