Second-division football club Hannover 96 has signed a new goalkeeper in Pascal Loretz. The 23-year-old moves from Swiss top-flight club FC Luzern to the Maschsee and is expected to be the first-choice keeper. Loretz signed a four-year contract valid until 2030.
Sporting director Ralf Becker spoke positively about the new signing: “Pascal has played more than 120 top-flight matches over the past three years and has only just turned 23. He has been performing at a high level for a long time and is part of the extended Swiss national team squad.” Becker emphasized that Loretz fits the profile they were looking for, both in terms of goalkeeping and ball-playing ability.
The new keeper expressed his excitement about the challenge in Hannover: “I really wanted to take this step and I’m extremely happy it worked out. Hannover 96 is a big traditional German club.” Loretz is convinced that his playing style suits the team’s approach.
Coach Christian Titz has already called his professionals in for an early training session on Thursday. Jean Hugonet and Yunus Ünal were also present. The German Football League (DFL) has already set the exact dates for the first two matchdays of the second division.
The first Lower Saxony derby between Hannover 96 and Wolfsburg will take place on Sunday afternoon.
