Munich's new mayor, Dominik Krause, has held his first cultural reception at the Gasteig HP8, marking a new chapter for the city's arts scene.

The traditional cultural reception of the city of Munich took place this year under the patronage of Dominik Krause for the first time. The youngest and newest mayor of the state capital invited several hundred guests to the courtyard of the Gasteig HP8 – a deliberate choice, as Gasteig managing director Stephanie Jenke emphasized: “The cultural reception is the icing on the cake of our anniversary events.” The motto of the celebrations for 40 years of Gasteig was “Celebrate Culture!”

Among the guests were cabaret artists such as Simon Pearce, André Hartmann, and Christl Sittenauer, musicians like Chris Gall, Franz Himpsl, and Evi Keglmaier, as well as artistic directors such as Thomas Linsmayer from the Deutsches Theater, Christian Stückl from the Volkstheater, or his brother Michael from the Unterfahrt. Cultural affairs officer Marek Wiechers provided the few humorous undertones.

The cultural reception also served as a stage for the long-standing city partnership between Munich and Harare (Zimbabwe). Vengai Katogodo, who met Munich native Carmen during a youth exchange, was present with his daughter Alma – a living example that the ties between people never broke despite political difficulties.
