The Gilching municipal council unanimously decided on Tuesday evening against demolishing the former youth center. Instead, the association Offene Werkstatt ‘Ausgepfuscht’ may use the building for five years without rent under a usage agreement. The association is relieved to have found a new meeting place – but first it must renovate the building.
The volunteer-run initiative offers people of all ages, financial means, and skill levels the opportunity to tinker, repair, or build things independently under expert guidance in the workshop. Its previous location in the old pharmacy building on Römerstraße must be vacated due to redevelopment plans by the Raiffeisenbank.
