Russia attacked Ukraine with 112 drones in the night to Thursday, 97 of which the Ukrainian Air Force says it shot down or suppressed by 8 a.m. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Forces, as reported among others by Pravda.com.ua, Suspilne and NV. The attack began on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and was still ongoing on Thursday morning: about seven combat drones were still in the airspace, and the combat work continued.
According to the Air Force, Russia deployed Shahed drones, “Gerbera” as well as decoys of the “Parodiya” type. 40 of the Shahed drones were jet-powered. According to these reports, they were launched from the direction of the Russian towns of Oryol and Millerovo as well as from the temporarily occupied Donetsk. Among the 97 repelled drones were, according to the Air Force, 30 jet-powered ones.
The Air Force also reports hits by Russian attack means at seven locations. At five other locations, debris from downed drones came down. According to its reports, the attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and drone systems units as well as mobile fire groups of the defence forces.
The Air Forces did not provide information on casualties or damage at the affected locations. According to NV, a drone hit a school in Kharkiv; in addition, Russian drones reportedly hit an industrial facility in the Rivne region, killing one person. Confirmation by the local authorities was initially not available.
The Air Force’s figures refer to the situation as of 8 a.m. on Thursday, 29 October. At that time, according to its reports, about seven combat drones were still in the air, so the tally of repelled drones may still change.
