According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukraine’s defence forces hit the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Togliatti in Samara Oblast, the Proton-Elektrotex plant in Oryol and an aircraft at the Yeysk airfield in Krasnodar Region. The General Staff announced this on Facebook on Saturday, as reported by the news agency Ukrinform. The strikes took place on the night of Saturday, 24 October, and already on Friday, 23 October.

For the Proton-Elektrotex plant in Oryol, hits on the main production building have been confirmed, the General Staff writes. The company is a leading Russian manufacturer of optoelectronic devices with a full production cycle and supplies, among other things, modules for the S-71 “Kover” air-to-ground cruise missiles as well as switching inverters for the 9M723 “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles. In addition, the company is involved in the production of the “Pantsir-S1” air defence system and its variants. The production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles is thereby made more difficult.

In Togliatti, according to the General Staff, the Tolyattikauchuk plant was also hit, and an explosion and a fire occurred in its vicinity. According to the General Staff, the plant produces synthetic rubbers, monomers, fractions and additives for high-octane petrol; the synthetic rubbers are used, among other things, for solid fuel of tactical and ballistic missiles. The extent of the damage at the Yeysk airfield is still being assessed. The General Staff justifies the strikes with the right to self-defence enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
