During modernization work at Werder Bremen’s Weserstadion, a load-bearing pillar was damaged. This caused a partial collapse in the upper tier of the stand, specifically in block 53. The incident occurred while window panes were being removed in the VIP area.
The club confirmed that no one was injured and that there is no risk of collapse for other parts of the stand. “We are currently analyzing the situation and the damage caused, and hope to be able to restore the stand as quickly as possible,” said Hans-Jörg Otto, managing director of Bremer Weserstadion GmbH.
