The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico has seen its first top match: Record world champions Brazil and highly rated underdogs Morocco drew 1-1 (1-1) in New Jersey. Each team dominated one half, with Brazil’s superstar Vinicius Junior scoring a spectacular equalizer, as ZDFheute reports.
Qatar caused a surprise: Julen Lopetegui’s team fought to a 1-1 draw against Switzerland – the first World Cup point in Qatari history. The Swiss around Granit Xhaka were superior but missed a second goal and were punished in stoppage time. Scotland, meanwhile, beat Haiti 1-0 and leads Group C.
On Monday evening, the German national team also starts its tournament. The DFB team faces underdogs Curaçao and wants to make a better impression than Switzerland. The match is the opener for Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.
