Harry Maguire (33) has reacted with disappointment to not being nominated for the 2026 World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Manchester United center-back wrote on Instagram that England manager Thomas Tuchel’s decision had shocked and deeply hurt him. Maguire played 22 games for Manchester United this season, missed time in winter due to a thigh problem, and fought his way back afterward.
His family reacted sharply to the decision. Mother Zoe wrote on platform X: “Absolutely disgusted.” Brother Joe added: “This is possibly the worst decision I have ever seen in my life. I am lost for words.” Maguire himself emphasized that there was nothing he loved more than wearing the England shirt. He wished the nominated players all the best.
Tuchel had praised Maguire in March, highlighting his strength in set pieces and defense, but gave him no World Cup guarantee. Maguire has earned 66 caps for England.
