Tesla shares traded nearly unchanged on Wednesday after new EPA documents disclosed the technical specifications of the Cybercab. According to the documents, the driverless taxi achieves up to 669 kilometers on a single charge—more than most current Tesla models.
The Cybercab is Tesla’s first production vehicle with front-wheel drive; the company has previously relied on rear- or all-wheel drive. The single electric motor delivers 219 horsepower. Industry experts suspect that the switch to front-wheel drive is intended to increase efficiency and improve weight distribution—key factors for the economical continuous operation of a robotaxi.
The EPA certification was completed on May 29, 2026, officially granting the Cybercab commercial product status. Tesla CEO Elon Musk had previously announced that production of the Cybercab had started. The market launch is still expected in 2026.
