The supervisory board of Deutsche Bahn is expected to approve the appointment of Michael Obrowski as the new finance chief on Thursday, DB sources told Handelsblatt. The position had been vacant since Karin Dohm left at the end of March.
Obrowski has been with Volkswagen since 1995, most recently as CFO of the commercial vehicles division since July 2021. At Deutsche Bahn, he takes over a company that posted a loss of 2.3 billion euros last year. CEO Evelyn Palla aims to break even in 2026.
The appointment comes with a notable detail: Supervisory board chairman Werner Gatzer and Palla agreed to waive a balanced gender quota for the board. Apart from Palla, the executive board will continue to consist exclusively of men.
