The city of Freising has created the planning basis for the construction of the Munich Arena, with two amendments. The municipal land-use planning procedure took about four years, the city and Real Estate GmbH announced. The arena is to be built near Munich Airport and will hold around 20,000 people.

The focus is on concerts by well-known artists. “All areas of the arena will be consistently designed for the best possible concert experience,” the project developer said. The goal is high-quality acoustics, good views of the stage, and optimal production conditions for organizers.

The arena is scheduled to open in 2029. However, a spokesperson for the project developer said that a reliable date for the start of construction is not yet available. The multifunctional hall with diamond-shaped struts is also included as a potential venue in Munich’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games.
