Bavaria’s state government plans to fundamentally allow the use of artificial intelligence (AI) at universities. A cabinet decision on June 23 stipulates that universities may no longer prohibit AI in studies and teaching. AI is also to be generally permitted in “unsupervised exams” such as term papers or bachelor’s and master’s theses.
The planned amendment to the Higher Education Innovation Act includes a labeling requirement for AI-generated content in examination regulations.
