The man was on Chiemsee with a relative when he wanted to go swimming from the boat and, for reasons still unclear, fell into the water. The relative lost sight of him shortly afterward.
Bathers alerted rescue services. Teams from the DLRG and the water rescue service found the man lifeless in the water in the evening. An emergency doctor could only confirm his death. Traunstein criminal police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
